Dreams=Squashed!

My dreams of my salon are squashed. At least for now. My husband put an end to it. He thinks it is a bad idea because we are already in debt with bills and credit cards and wants to have more money saved up before even thinking about something like that.

I am very bummed and disappointed. I would have rather had support for my idea and help in figuring out how to make it work. I think it could have been a great thing. I was trying to do this for the good of the family, not just myself! I wanted the business to strive and make some money. It could have been a great investment.

Thanks to my blog-friends for your encouragement. I still might go have the name saved for me to use at a later date. But this great location is being build right now and will be available by the end of this year. So I don't know that I will find another great location like it.

I felt like God and the universe wanted me to have this salon. Everything was pointing me in that direction. I know the numbers I was playing with weren't realistic, but I was working on getting them realistic, and it would have been nice to have help with it.

I feel like there is no way to get out of debt the way we are now, just working and not making enough money all the time, and prices are increasing all the time. We might have to get rid of the internet, so if that happens I won't be here as much. If I dissappear, you will know what happened. Our cell phones will have to go bye-bye and cable tv is going away for sure. I could care less about all the cable channels. It's the kids that like to watch all the Nickalodeon and stuff. They will have to do without.

This salon could have been a good thing. That's all I'm sayin'.

Maybe they won't be squashed yet ... look in your area for the Women in Business chapter - you can get loans/grants to open up your own place. If it won't cost you that much money and the potential for income is there, hubby can't argue that you'll be in greater debt. Just a thought!

I think you should quietly keep doing research, personally. Like milwaukee girl said, maybe you could get a low cost start up loan or something? Just keep doing your homework and maybe that will help you find a viable option. I hope you don't lose your online access, that would be sad.

Sorry to hear about that! But, you just never know what will happen!!

well....if God wants you to have it...all the doors will open without a problem...think about it that way. Sometimes God says no. Otherwise, maybe there is a better place around the corner. You know sometimes we have plans and we don't really realize that there are more financial things to spend on than you expect. Ask other salon owners and see what they did and what their start up costs were. That might help.sorry you are disappointed.

I'm sorry your plans don't seem to be working out right now. Don't let them go though they will work out when the time is right. The most important thing to remember is to have faith that God will give it to you when he thinks it's the right time. I tried to have a baby for 2 years (with and without fertility treatment) and no success. As soon as had faith that God would do it when it was time I was much happier (and I got preggo about 3 months later...and 2 years after that and 18 mos after that).
