Oh, did I never blog about that?
Well, he is on the Autism spectrum, but he is not ADD or ADHD or anything in particular. He is “other”. So he is a mild case, but enough to make me go crazy sometimes. Anyway, they are adjusting things in his school day like putting him at a desk away from the other kids so that he doesn’t distract them, because he likes to talk and move his hands around a lot and make noises. And he is getting some time in another room for more of a one-on-one situation. They (the school group) are going to monitor him throughout his entire public school career, through 12th grade, so he will always be able to get whatever help he needs. They do believe that he will pass the second grade. He is smart and average with his knowledge, he just doesn’t express it well in his school work.
So, that is my son.
I will post this on my blog also. So anyone else reading this, this is in reference to my son who I thought might be ADD or something similar. Well, he is something similar, but less severe. Sometimes, he seems normal. J

My son is HFA. He's high functioning autistic. He also has ADHD. He takes strattera. We've tried many different meds and this one works best now. I understand the frustration. I believe early intervention is the key!
Your son sounds a LOT like my son. He hasn't had many problems in school, yet, but other than that they sound VERY similiar. I am so glad that you are getting help from the school though! And I too understand your frustration.
I thought for a while that my son had some learning disability, but fortunately he was "socially behind" his peers. There was lots of talk about him having another problem. I am glad that you were able to get it diagnosed. Somehow it is easier knowing than not knowing...
Thanks all.
Yes, they said his problem was mostly social, like he doesn't act right in situations, doesn't pay attention in school, says inappropriate things like talking about butts and such. Hopefully, he will start to do better. He is still getting conduct slips almost every day so far.
Oh, man, I think I will have this problem with my 5 year old, he starts K in the fall. My older son, 8, is super duper sweet and always worried about doing something wrong. The younger one..not so much. *sigh*
Does your son "get" that what he is doing is unacceptable? or is he like, "what's the big deal?" That's Connor, the 5-year-old, he just doesn't give a rat's ass what anybody thinks. Not good, not good at all...
Yeah, I think he doesn't get that things are not right to talk about. Either that or he just likes to argue about it.
