Okay, here is a start of a possible novel that I may one day try to write. Tell me what you think of this. It is based on a true story but some names may have been changed to protect the idiots, I mean the innocent. LOL :)
I. William
The first year of high school was completely uneventful for Katie. Her best friend, Liz shared every class with her. They were best friends for life 4-sure! They day dreamed about the senior boys, who by the way didn’t know they even existed. To make things worse, they had joined the Pep Squad which was also called the “Dog Squad”. If this had been made public to incoming Freshmen, they would not have joined. They were doomed from the start. But at least they got into all of the football games for free.
Katie and Liz were in the choir their Freshman year and again their Sophomore year in 1983. They were altos. They had decided to change their luck the second time around. Nor more “Dog Squad” for starters.
The girls decided to scope out the Freshmen boys in the choir room. The plan was to pick out a cute one and get him to fall for you by the end of the year.
The choir room had everyone seated differently than other classes. All of the chairs were lined up in rows facing the instructor’s podium. The back rows were on risers and there were no desks.
Katie looked around the room once everyone was seated. She didn’t have far to search. Right in front of her was a good looking guy with wavy brown hair and strong shoulders. He was a bass singer. His name was William.
Liz saw two guys on the front row and down a few chairs to the right. She thought they were both a good catch and couldn’t decide on just one, so she chose both of them. Jared was a blond with brown puppy-dog eyes and a straight nose. Matt had wavy dark, almost black hair and electrifying blue eyes. You could tell that they were best friends. They were tenors.
Days went by before Katie put her plan of seduction into action. The class was beginning to learn songs for the Christmas program. Katie used her sweet singing voice and sang to the back of William’s head. She crossed her legs and put her foot on his chair and “accidentally” touched the back pocket of his Levi’s.
William turned around to see who was behind him. He saw a cute blonde girl with her hair feathered back. Her soft blue eyes were locking with his deep set brown eyes. Katie flashed him a slight smile and waited for his smile in return. Then she looked back at the instructor and continued to sing along.
William turned back to the front but from that moment on he couldn’t stop thinking about that girl.
Liz was too afraid to talk to Matt and Jared. She stared at them from across the room waiting for one of them to look at her. When they did, she smiled at them but they didn’t know who she was smiling at, so they just ignored poor Liz. She sat there day after day just wishing that one of them would like her enough to flirt with her, but they continued to keep to themselves. I know what you are thinking. No, they were not gay.
In the 80’s jeans were tight, shoes were checkered, and everyone had a Member’s Only jacket. If you didn’t have the jacket, you were not a member of the cool club. Katie and Liz had windbreakers, of course. Before school, Liz and Katie would hang out near the cafeteria, sitting on a bench eating a bag of chips and drinking a soda. One day they got a crazy idea.
“Did you see that guy? His jeans are so tight that you can see which way he is hanging.” Liz was very preoccupied with sexual matters.
“What?! Where?” Katie asked curiously.
“He just went that way.” They stared at his rear as he walked away. Then they looked around the room cautiously to make sure no one saw them looking.
Katie wondered aloud, “Do most guys hang the same direction?” They both giggled. “We could make a chart!”
Liz decided, “We could do like a secret survey to see which way is most popular!”
Liz drew up the chart. The top row had bold writing.
LEFT RIGHT
She drew a line down the center of the page all the way to the bottom. They looked at each other and smiled then laughed out loud. They began their secret survey at once. Guys would walk by and checkmarks would be put in the appropriate column. They were very discreet about it. No one knew what they were doing. How could they? Who else would have thought up such a thing? The girls appeared to be going over some homework. Soon they were halfway down the page and the outcome was pretty equal so far. They would continue this survey later on. The bell rang and they had to get to class.

Hey!! Since I guess I know who Liz is and I heard about this from someone else, at least make her character a little less desperate, and a little more exciting!! Don't forget - I know most of your secrets!!
Lisa

good start gal! keep up the good work! why dont' you start a "book blog" for yourself?
Well, if i write a book on the blog, then i probably couldn't sell it for profit. Huh. It gets better too. We'll see.
